Brilla Juniors Perform Well as Fall Season Ends

On November 12-13, the U10 - U13 boys teams from Mississippi Brilla Juniors competed at the Germantown Invitational Tournament in Memphis, TN. This was the final tournament of the fall season for each of the teams, and they all went out with successful tournaments. The overall record for the teams during the tournament was 11-3-3. These are great results from such a competitive tournament.

The ’99 Boys (U13) coached by Michael Brown advanced to the semifinal where they played a strong Scott Gallagher Club team from St. Louis, MO. The exciting game was tied at 1-1 tie as the final whistle blew. Per tournament rules the game went straight to penalty kicks to decide who would advance to the final.  Unfortunately it wasn’t to be that day and the team fell 4-2 in penalties. The team had a great tournament and should be proud of advancing to the semifinals.

The ’01 Boys Yellow (U11) coached by Todd Eason came away with a championship medal as they defeated Brentwood Soccer Club in their second straight penalty kick shootout win after advancing past Scott Gallgher in the semi final via a shootout. The final was an exciting back and fourth game as the boys went up 2-0 quickly in the second half only to see that lead disappear and find themselves down 3-2 in the final moments of the game. After a tactical change, the team was able to draw level at 3-3 and headed into penalty’s where they would eventually come out with a victory.

It was a great way to end the fall season for the younger boys teams and we are eagerly awaiting the spring season.
