Mississippi Brilla Cruises to 2-0 Win in Nashville

June 20, 2010 – Murfreesboro, TN

After blowing a 3-0 lead in Atlanta two nights before and tying the Blackhawks, Mississippi Brilla FC wanted to secure maximum points against a team they had comfortably beaten twice already this season in the Nashville Metros.

The match was played in sweltering heat with a 3:00 kickoff at Siegel Park in Murfreesboro. As is their habit this season, Brilla scored an early goal when Moses Aduny finished a loose ball in the Metros penalty area in the 18th minute. Aduny wasn’t finished as he would net a second two minutes later after Thomas Shannon found him with a long ball from just outside the Brilla penalty area. Aduny ran onto it, rounded Metros’ ‘keeper Kyle Roelke, and put it back into the net for the second and last goal.

The rest of the match would see Brilla holding massive amounts of possession, but unable to find the final touch to put the ball in the net. The heat took its toll on both teams as the game slowed down and each team would make several substitutions. The Metros manufactured a few half chances in the second half, but never were able to put Brilla ‘keeper Josh Pantazelos under too much pressure.

The win moves Mississippi into a tie for the Southeast Division lead with the Baton Rouge Capitals before the Capitals host the New Orleans Jesters tonight at 7:00 PM.

Mississippi and Nashville will face off again on Saturday night at Harper Davis Field at Millsaps College in Jackson, MS. The match will kick off at 7:00 PM.
