Ogunseye would add a third for the team and a second goal for himself when he intercepted a back pass intended for the Nashville ‘keeper in the 36th minute.
With the game in hand Brilla’s head coach, Dave Dixon, started making substitutes in order to keep the team fresh for a Sunday matchup in Baton Rouge against the Capitals. In all Mississippi would make their full allotment of six substitutes before the match would end.
Stefan Ostergren would finish the scoring in the 59th minute on a Nick Rich assist.
The win brings Brilla’s record up to 6-1-4 with 22 points. They remain in second place behind the Bradenton Academics.
“Nashville came in with heavy legs tonight after a tough 1-1 draw against New Orleans on Thursday,” said Dixon. “We’re glad to get a comfortable win and be able to rest some guys before our match in Baton Rouge tomorrow. Despite their place in the standings, Baton Rouge will play us tough.”
After a trip to Baton Rouge on Sunday, Mississippi returns home to host the New Orleans Jesters on Saturday, July 4 at 7:00 PM at Arrow Field. New Orleans sits just behind Mississippi in the standings, so their third meeting of the year will surely be a competitive contest. The teams have tied in their previous two meetings this year.
