Mississippi Brilla has announced that the team will be moving to a new venue for the final month of the Premier Development League regular season. Facing heat concerns for both players and fans, Mississippi Brilla will play its final three home matches under the lights at Clinton High School’s Arrow Field.
“Our home field at Mississippi College is a great atmosphere for a soccer match,” said Rusty Bryant, President and General Manager. “Unfortunately, there are no lights. The temperature for a 5:30 pm kick-off is almost unbearable.”
After last Friday’s home match saw the heat index reach 105 degrees, officials from Mississippi Brilla knew that it was time to make a change.
Bryant added, “With the record breaking temperatures we have been having, we knew that we had to protect the players and the fans.”
While Clinton High School’s Arrow Field will be a change in location, it is certainly not an unfamiliar venue for Mississippi Brilla. The team closed its 2009 campaign with a match at Arrow Field, and also played a match there earlier this season.
Head Coach Dave Dixon said, “It is great to have such an incredible facility as an option. Arrow Field is a state of the art stadium that is practically brand new. It is one of the best stadiums in the entire state.”
Mississippi Brilla will play at Arrow Field for three of the next four Saturdays. They will host Nashville on Saturday, June 27 and New Orleans on Saturday, July 4. The team will close out the regular season at home on Saturday, July 18 against Central Florida. Each of the final three home matches will begin at 7:00 pm.
Saturday, June 27 will be Mississippi Soccer Association Night. All children and youth wearing their soccer jerseys will be admitted free of charge. Regular admission price is $5 and may be purchased at the gate.
