Brilla FC located their offense against the Dallas-Fort Worth Tornados on Friday evening, and continued their two-year home-unbeaten streak. Brilla scored two early goals and held on to win 2-0.
Adam Braun finished a move created by Phillip Buffington when the ball bounced free in the penalty area. Braun controlled the loose ball and calmly deposited it into the back of the Tornados net in the 11th minute.
Fifteen minutes later, Buffington finished one for himself after Michael Brown found him with a great pass behind the Dallas-Fort Worth line. Brilla FC played a smothering defense for the remainder of the match that would frustrate the Tornado attack. Far from frustrated, the crowd of 609 went home happy.
Brilla FC head coach, Steve DeCou, missed the match due to a previous engagement. Deputizing for him was Phil Moyer. Moyer was obviously pleased with the team’s performance.
“I wasn’t too concerned about how the team would react to a different coach tonight,” said Moyer. “Coach DeCou has prepared them wonderfully. I was just here to make observations and adjustments as necessary. All of the credit goes to the boys tonight.”
Brilla FC has a quick turnaround as they host the New Orleans Shell Shockers at home tomorrow night. Alumni House Sports Grill is sponsoring the Saturday night affair. The restaurant in Ridgeland is providing Mississippi Brilla FC t-shirts to the first 500 in attendance. The match will begin at 5:00 PM and all tickets are $5 at the gate.
