FORT LAUDERDALE, Florida – Mississippi Brilla opened its 2013 season with a convincing 6-0 victory over Ft Lauderdale Shulz Academy on Thursday evening. The fireworks started early, and continued throughout the match.
Brilla striker Fakhry Khulfan broke loose and was brought down in the box just 2 minutes into the game. Veteran midfielder Anteneh Lemma calmly converted the penalty kick for Brilla’s first goal of the season.

CLINTON, Miss. - At the end of an 8-7-1 season in 2012, Mississippi's Premier Development League team found itself in unfamiliar territory: out of the postseason. Belhaven University captured the 2012 NAIA National Championship in December, and in May, Mississippi Brilla captured three of Belhaven’s players for their 2013 roster. Eduardo Cruz, Victor France, and Tom Gavin have all committed to play for Mississippi this season and Brilla hopes their winning ways translate to the Premier Development League.

Ahead of their only open tryout, Mississippi Brilla FC announces the return of four veteran players: Felipe Silva, Phillip Buffington, Anteneh Lemma, and Jakes Files. The players will be integral in providing some continuity between previous seasons and 2013 where Brilla has experienced many changes, including a new head coach and a roster that will be full of new players.
